Student elections voting opens 10 March

The SUSU Leadership Elections are your opportunity to help shape student life at the University of Southampton. From 10 March, you can vote for the student leaders who will represent you, champion your priorities, and influence positive change across the University and the Students' Union.

Every vote counts, and your participation makes a real difference.

What are the SUSU Leadership Elections?

The SUSU Leadership Elections decide the Sabbatical Officers — full-time paid student leaders who guide the direction of SUSU and represent students at the highest levels of the University. Sabbatical Officers sit in key University meetings, advocate for student priorities, and help deliver meaningful change across areas such as academics, equality, diversity, sport, and student community life.

Being a Sabbatical Officer is a full-time, paid position that can be taken after a student's studies or as a year out.

Roles elected include:

  • Union President: The main spokesperson for students and figurehead of the Union.
  • VP Education: Represents academic interests and lobbies for changes that improve your learning experience.

Why voting matters

The students you elect shape campaigns, influence decision-making, and ensure SUSU remains student-led. Your vote helps choose the leaders who will champion issues affecting halls residents (such as the cost of living, wellbeing, events, and community-building) to ensure your voice is heard.
