What to expect with your accommodation application

If you have made Southampton your firm, only choice or insurance choice, applied for accommodation before 1 August and have met the conditions of your course offer, you will be sent an offer of accommodation between 14 August and 5 September. These are sent out in batches, so don't worry if you don't receive your offer straight away. You will receive an offer email to the email address you registered on the accommodation portal (We recommend also checking your junk folder during this time). You can also log into the portal at any time to check on the latest status of your application.

Accommodation offers for those who apply through clearing and are covered by the clearing accommodation guarantee will receive offers from the 20 August onwards. 

Postgraduate accommodation applicant offers have been sent from June 2025 onwards.

How to accept the offer  

You can view the details of your offer via the accommodation Portal.  To accept, follow the instructions on the portal, noting your offer is valid for a limited period which will be stated on your offer email and on the portal.  

If you do not accept the offer before the deadline, it will be withdrawn. If you are still interested in university accommodation, please contact Accommodation Support team on 02380 595959 to discuss what options may be available to you. Alternatively you can email accommodation@soton.ac.uk with your query. 

After you accept your offer what happens next

• The Essential life in Halls induction will be live from 10:00 on Wednesday 3 September 2025 You will need to complete this induction before you move into halls. It provides useful and practical information you need to know before living in halls along with information about University services, support and general health and safety information. 

• Arrival slots Your next step is to book your arrival time, which can be done once you have completed the induction. Booking slots are available for each site for the designated arrival dates for that Halls site. All students should book an arrival slot unless you are an international students and plan to use, or are booked on the Meet and Greet service. 

• Arrival Information – You will receive an email on 10 September 2025 with arrival information for your halls site and details of your key collection point. 

• Move into halls – Move in dates for our various sites fall between the 18-21 September 2025 You can find further details on move in dates for your halls site along with details of what to bring and what we provide on the University of Southampton arrival website.
