Your chance to get informed and feel confident
We're excited to continue LET'S TALK, a brand new series of drop-in events designed to give you the tools, knowledge, and confidence you need to thrive in the local community. Each session focuses on a key topic that matters to you: your wellbeing, your experience in halls, and your life at university and beyond.
Our next event in the series is all about staying safe.
What to expect
Safety isn't just about following rules, it's about feeling confident, informed, and prepared. That's why we've teamed up with the experts who keep our community safe every day.
At this session, you'll have the chance to meet and speak directly with:
- Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary Get practical advice on personal safety, crime prevention, and how to look after yourself when you're out and about in Southampton.
- University of Southampton Campus Security Learn more about safety on campus, the support available to you 24/7, and how to report concerns.
- University of Southampton Wellbeing Speak to the team about mental health and wellbeing support, how to access help, and tip for looking after yourself throughout the academic year.
These teams will be on hand throughout the session to offer guidance, answer questions, and share tips tailored specifically to students living in halls.
Why you should come along
Whether you're new to halls or returning for another year, this is a great opportunity to:
- Learn how to stay safe in your accommodation and around the city
- Get expert advice in an informal, friendly environment
- Find out what support services are available to you
- Ask questions you might not normally have the chance to ask
- Build confidence in navigating student life independently
Safety affects all of us, so taking a little time to understand it better can make a big difference.
Drop in, say 'Hello', and get informed
There's no presentation, no pressure, and no need to stay for the whole session. Just pop in, chat to the experts, and pick up some practical tips.
And the best bit? You can attend the sessions that feel most relevant to you.
We look forward to seeing you there and kicking off the LET'S TALK series together.
