Knowing who to contact in an emergency

Our Security team are a friendly bunch!

But they are here when you need them

If a crime is occurring or there is a medical or fire related emergency, always call 999.

If you are on campus or in Halls of Residence and there is an emergency, contact the University Security Team at 023 8059 3311 (the phone number is also on the back of your student ID card).

Our Security team have a number of different roles. The main one is to keep you safe while you’re at Southampton, but they’re also there to provide advice and guidance to students, staff and visitors, manage and monitor campus-wide CCTV systems, and are available 24 hours a day as a point of contact. 

All members of the Security Team are first-aid trained.

If you have an emergency because you or someone else is at risk, and are not on campus or in a University-owned building, you will need to contact the emergency services:
999 (free number for police, ambulance or fire services)

Our uniformed Security Team are available 24/7 at all University sites, both on and off campus, so it’s reassuring to know you’re well looked after here at Southampton.
